Performance Characteristics of Glass Fiber Yarn

The manufacture of the fiberglass filament is a process of melting each raw material in a smelter of 1300℃,then make advantage of the gravitation to let the melted liquid pass a filament-abstract box to be abstracted to filament.And the diameter of the filament is about severalμm (10*-6).After the several tens to hundreds of glass filament is sized, they are reeled to a filament cake at high speed.The cake filament will be machininged to chopped strand mat, chopped strand, woven roving bundle, canister roving and other product according to different requirement.
The general physical characters of fiberglass filament:
- High tension-endurance: the tension-resistance is about twice as steel of unit weight.
- Good size stability: the ratio of elongation is about 3% ~ 4%.
- Good heat-endurance: it have the 50% ability of tension-endurance however the temperature of 340℃.
- The character of the resistance to chemical cauterization: it is not easy to be damaged by the chemical.
- Low heat expansion.
- Low water-absorptance: 0.1%.
- Good electronic characters: is has good electric-resistant.
- Good flame-resistant: the melting point of glass is high, so it has the character of non- burning.
Because of its good quality with low cost, the fiberglass met has become the most abroad used reinforcement.
